The craftsmanship pursued for years in our workshops takes on its full significance in the continuous aesthetic and stylistic research, thanks to which Zoffoli products have been recognized and appreciated internationally for years.
The Golden Lathe: the beginning of a success that continues to this day
The Rimini-based company, therefore, has never strayed from its primordial nature: in the middle of the last century, Italo Zoffoli, patriarch of a family that has gradually been enriched by many expert craftsmen, started a small but promising business, shaping his first classic globes with a modest and rudimentary lathe.
Italo’s manual skills, vision, and style did not go unnoticed, so much so that, in 1963, his company was awarded the prestigious “Golden Lathe” (Tornio d’Oro), established by the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan to reward the best craftsmen in the woodworking world.
Attracting the attention and praise of the judges was what is still the company's signature product today, namely the globe bar, a piece of home decor that Zoffoli was already showcasing not only in Italian shop windows back then, but also in international ones.
An indissoluble artisan spirit
Then as today, Zoffoli globes are made in Italy with extreme care, starting from the meticulous selection of raw materials.
To ensure the best possible results, some of the processes continue to be carried out and decorated by hand, thus making each globe a unique piece, just like those crafted by Italo Zoffoli in the fifties and sixties. The secret that allows this company to keep its artisanal spirit intact is to view new technologies never as an end, nor as a goal, but always and in any case as additional tools, thanks to which they can further refine their art without ever impoverishing it.
The artisan's touch therefore remains central, and so it will be for the many globes that will continue to leave the workshops of this fascinating Italian company.
Now as then, unique globes
Peculiar techniques, ancient wisdom, inspirations and secrets have been handed down from father to son, making our artifacts increasingly fascinating, as well as fundamentally unique.
